PHANTOMS SNAP SCORELESS STREAK

The Phantoms broke out of their scoreless streak in a big way Saturday night, defeating the Cougars 9-3. Mike Thomas doubled his career output with a hat trick on the night, and five other Phantoms added goals as they snapped a two-game losing streak.

Eric Partington opened the scoring six minutes into the game on a power play and Thomas got his first on the night less than a minute later on the same power play to take a quick 2-0 lead. The 1st period would end at 2-0, but the Phantoms scored three quick goals to start the 2nd. Steve Nemitz, Thomas' 2nd, and Pete Morrow all scored in the first two minutes of the period to jump out ahead 5-0. Nemitz again, Damon Ray, and Nate Bonde would add goals the rest of the way before Thomas earned the trick with five minutes remaining. Partington finished the night with four assists for five points.

The Phantoms will next take on the Zephyrs, Saturday at St Paul Academy. It will be the 2nd Phantoms Night of the year, so bring out the parents, wives, and kiddies and don't forget the signs.
