ICE HOGS SHUT DOWN PHANTOMS

The Phantoms two-game win streak came to an end Sunday night, falling to the Ice Hogs 4-2. The Phantoms lived up to their nickname, "Tough Guy Hockey," getting nine penalties and a misconduct. The Ice Hogs capitalized on the penalties three times while the Phantoms offense couldn't get much going.

The teams skated to a 0-0 tie in the first period, but the Ice Hogs got on to the board shortly into the second. The Hogs added another midway through the period but the Phantoms answered back late in the period when John O'Connell got a breakaway and made a nice move to cut the lead to one.

The Ice Hogs added another early goal in the third period, but the Phantoms would again answer when O'Connell slid a nice pass to Pete Morrow who was waiting on the doorstep. That was all the scoring the Phantoms would get though, and the Ice Hogs added an insurance goal later in the third.

The Ice Hogs outshot the Phantoms 39-27 for the game. The Phantoms will next face the Chiefs Wednesday night. The teams split the first two games this season.
